Ford launched a heavy metal solo career when the band split in 1979. She took vocal lessons and then released her debut solo album 'Out for Blood'. It was and then followed it with 'Dancin' at the Edge'. The albums of Ford were not particularly popular, and she stayed away for several years. The year was 1988 when she released her smashing success album , 'Lita.' Kiss Me Deadly was her most popular hit, along with the ballad Close My Eyes Forever and Kiss Me Deadly. Unfortunately, the success that she had achieved was brief and over a long period of time she was out of the entertainment industry. Following the release of 'Black' in 1995 and then a couple of years following, "Wicked wonderland", she re-emerged. in 2016, the most recent album'Time Capsule' was released. Guitar Player Magazine presented her with the prestigious Certified Guitar Legend Award.
